Wastefulness

The one of the essentials of Islam are economics and moderation. It’s to be moderate about expenses, eating and drinking, talking and about all similar affairs. The opposite is wastefulness. Allah SWT emphasizes that the muslims are always moderate, “And [they are] those who, when they spend, do so not excessively or sparingly but are ever, between that, [justly] moderate” (Su’rat Al Furqan, 67.)

The sources and facilities are not eternal. Should not be wasteful about the electricity, water, foods and drinks. The foods that we have left in our dishes and the breads that we have wasted, fed many poors.

Why this much wasting is? Do we know what is wasting? In our religion Islam, The wastefulness is all the materials and the spiritual things that are misapplied, non benefical and inefficient. Imam Azam (ra) also states same things. “The wastefullnes is not necessary even in the charity and kindness. There is no benefaction in the wastefulness. The wasting is unlawful” The person who performs ablution even in sea side, the water should be used as moderate. The organs that is washed three times, can not be washed four times. He can not spend prodigally even for charity. Because Allah SWT said “Do not spend wastefully!”, (Surat Al-Isra, 26).

The brain has not to be wasted in vane. The heart has not to be contaminated by sins. He has not to look at somethings unlawful, and has not to listen flummery voices. He uses all the organs properly what are created for. Allah SWT sais “Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart - about all those [one] will be questioned.” (Surat Al-Isra, 36)

There are many things will be explained from the wasting of breads to the wasting of the time. Our Prophet Mohamad (pbuh) says “There are two blessings which many people waste: health and free time.” The cause of wastefulness is that not to know our religion as is due. The lack of quality of the belongings and materials. The addiction to the luxury and fashion. Truthfully, not to know unlawful and lawful. The wastefulness is that not to know the situation of the poors in Somalia whom they only eat one time in a day. Our Prophet Mohamad (pbuh) says “Eat, drink, dress and give alms without vanity and wasting”

In terms of faith, the wastefulness is stated by Allah SWT in Surat Al Maidah as the corruption of the children of israel. The wasteful is the outrageous and tyrannical pharaoh, stated by Allah SWT in Surat Ad-Dukhan,31. In terms of morals, the wastefulness is the situation of deviant Lut Nation. It’s given preference the unlawful ways instead of lawful. It’s contamination of the lawful earnings by unlawful ways, interest, black marketeering and manipulation.
